Large-scale Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered disruption to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while officials has called for "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The assaults succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
